What is TV insurance?


Television insurance provides cover for your TV in the event of a breakdown or even accidental damage. While your manufacturer’s warranty may provide you with some cover for an initial period, these are limited, often to only 12 months. The cost of TV insurance will take into consideration the price of the television that you own, so we will ask you to specify the price range that each television falls within in order to generate a competitive quote.

Is TV insurance worth it?

Can I insure more than one TV?

Television insurance can be taken out to cover one TV or multiple TVs or other appliances. Some people opt to insurance just their main television in the living room as this is usually the most expensive in the household, and that is perfectly fine. Should you wish to provide insurance to cover all the TVs in your home, then this is also possible either as a TV only insurance or as a comprehensive policy covering many of your household appliances.

Should I insure my TV instead of other appliances?

This isn’t an easy one to answer as it really depends how vital you consider your television and whether the cost of it would make it far more difficult to replace than any other of your household appliances. Ideally, you would be in a position to take out insurance for several items as part of a comprehensive policy, but we appreciate this isn’t always possible.

It’s a case of balancing out the items that are essential to the smooth running of your home against the potential costs of repair or replacement. If your TV is a particularly expensive one, then it may make financial sense for you to insure it instead of a cheaper household appliance.

We believe that TV insurance shouldn’t tie you into a contract. Not only do we aim to provide you with complete peace of mind when it comes to the level of insurance cover for your television, but we also want to allow you to be able to cancel at any time, without incurring any additional fees.

We offer you flexibility so that your policy can be cancelled or amended at any time. If you cancel your policy within 21 calendar days of receiving it you will receive a full refund of any premium you have paid to us. If however you have made a claim during this period we reserve the right to deduct the cost of that claim from the refund of premium which is due to you and we will tell you if we are making this deduction. If you cancel this policy after 21 calendar days of receiving it cancellation will be effective immediately and the amount of premium refund you are entitled to is set out below.

 

Monthly and Quarterly PoliciesAnnual Policies
You will not be charged any more monthly or quarterly premium amounts and you will not receive a refund of any premium you have paid to us.You will be entitled to a pro-rata return of premium paid for the number of complete unexpired days remaining of your policy. The administrator will charge an administration fee of £20. You will not be entitled to a pro-rata refund if a claim or an incident that may give rise to a claim has occurred.

Unlike many other insurers, we do not place any restrictions on the number of times you can claim. We understand that several appliances, including TVs, can sometimes break within a short time of one another.

We don’t want to make our customers feel awkward should they find that you have to make more than one claim in a short period of time. The only general restriction we specify is that deliberate damage and pre-existing faults are not covered under our insurance policies.

If your TV cannot be repaired, we will replace it with a television of similar specification to one you currently own. If  we are unable to source a like-for-like replacement TV on your behalf, we will pay a contribution towards the cost of replacing the television, enabling you to choose a replacement yourself.
