What isn’t covered by a Prominence Support Boiler Policy?
As with all insurance policies, there are a number of exclusions and the following situations are not covered:
Issues with all types of boilers if it has not been installed correctly and maintained as per the manufacturer’s instructions or any statutory regulations that apply, or if the boiler is over 10 years old.
Issues with a boiler where you have not serviced it properly. If you have our optional boiler service add on, you won’t have to worry about this.
Issues caused by poor maintenance, or deliberate misuse of your boiler.

Does your boiler cover come with an annual boiler service?
While a free boiler service isn’t included as standard with our boiler cover, it can be purchased as an optional extra for an additional low-cost fee.
If I do purchase the additional annual boiler service, how does it work?
If you purchase the boiler service optional extra from us, we will arrange for a qualified Gas Safe engineer to come round to your property and service your boiler if this has not been done in a while. Once this initial inspection has taken place, we will arrange for an annual check to take place at your convenience whilst your policy is active.
During the service, your boiler will be comprehensively checked following the standard boiler service checklist to ensure that everything is running safely, efficiently, and as it should. A boiler service is another great way to get peace of mind for your home.
What is checked during a boiler service?
During a typical boiler service, the following will be checked:
The boiler will be visually checked for leaks, damage, and the build up of dirt and dust. Signs of distress or damage will be noted, and a solution will be presented to the customer.
The boiler will have a variety of different controls and safety features that will be checked for correct operation and tested for safety.
The flue that takes hazardous gases from your boiler to the outside of your property will be checked for damage, blockages, and correct fitting. It will also be cleaned if required.
Components will be cleaned
The main components of the boiler will be removed, checked and cleaned to ensure they are working efficiently and are safe. Any defects will be noted, and a solution provided to the customer. Components checked include the main heat burner, flue pipe-ways, the ignition pins, and the heat exchanger.
Any electrical wiring to the boiler will be checked for safety and to ensure they are in full working order.
The pressure of the gas supply will be checked to ensure it is adequate for the appliance.
The engineer will check and adjust the water pressure in your central heating.
Location of boiler
The boiler’s location will be checked to ensure it is safe and is not near any flammable materials.

What if I have house insurance?
